A Nigerian pastor and his accomplice have landed in trouble after they were reportedly caught destroying the Holy Quran in Ankpa, Kogi state.

The pastor who is yet-to-be identified was caught red-handed tearing and burning the Quran near the town’s central mosque on Friday, May 8.

Their action prompted some residents to apprehend and beat them up and they almost got served with jungle justice but for the timely arrival of the police. They were later dragged to the palace of the King of Ankpa before being transferred to Lokoja, the state capital.

As at the time of filling this report, the reason for their action is yet to be ascertained.

This condemnable act by the pastor in Kogi is coming in a country beset by religious crisis. Nigerians across political and religious divide have called for religious tolerance and the the need to lie in peace.
