TWO Chinese workers, who were kidnapped by gunmen at a construction site in the Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State last Wednesday, have been rescued by the Nigeria Police Force.

Southern City News gathered that the two Chinese expatriates were rescued in a forest in Aninri LGA in Enugu State on Sunday.

Recall that the two Chinese, identified as Sun Zhixin and Wang Quing Hu, were employees of a Chinese construction firm, Tongyi Group of Companies.

The firm was constructing a road connecting Ivo River at a boundary town between Ebonyi and Enugu states.

The spokesperson for the Ebonyi State Police Command, Loveth Odah, confirmed their rescue to journalists in Abakaliki on Sunday.

Odah, who could not confirm if any ransom was paid, said the victims were rescued unhurt.

She said, “The Chinese that were kidnapped on April 24, 2019 were abandoned by the kidnappers due to the pressure mounted on them by the police.

“The workers said they (victims) thought that they were not far from the place  where they were kidnapped; but due to the thickness of the forest, they could not see.

“Every time they felt police presence around them, the kidnappers took them to another place.”
