Sergej W., the man behind the attack on the Borussia Dortmund team bus in April last year, has been sentenced to 14 years in prison.

The defendant carried out the attack in an attempt to cause the club’s share price to sink, something that would have seen him win a lot of money.

On Tuesday, the district court in Dortmund ruled that he will spent years in prison after a verdict was reached that he was guilty of attempted murder on 28 counts.

Former Dortmund defender Marc Bartra required surgery on arm and wrist injuries caused by the attack.
