Liverpool travel to north London to take on Spurs on Saturday – and John Barnes has cast his predictions ahead of the fixture.
The Premier League clash was supposed to take place at Tottenham’s new stadium but the ground’s opening date has been pushed back. Instead, the game will take place at Wembley.
Jurgen Klopp’s side come into the fixture sitting top of the Premier League table with four wins from four games.
Spurs lost their 100 per cent start when they were humbled by Watford just before the international break.
Barnes, who was speaking on behalf of
Bonus Code Bets , said: “It’s going to be an exciting game. An attacking game. Both teams play attacking football.
“What I would say is Liverpool have solved the problems they had against Spurs last year, particularly at Wembley when Kane scored and Lovren made a couple of mistakes.
“This Liverpool defence is much stronger, they’ve got a stronger goalkeeper and the biggest thing for me is that they didn’t play well in the last game and won. I think that’s what let Liverpool down in the past – they had to play well to win, whereas now they look a lot more solid defensively and can still attack and score goals.
” Tottenham are a fantastic team, we saw them against Manchester United but we also saw them lose 2-1 to Watford. I think they’ll put in a consistent performance and cause Liverpool problems.
“Harry Kane seems to be struggling a little bit, people seem to be talking about him being fatigued. But with the likes of Christian Eriksen they still have a lot of attacking options.
“I think it will be an open game. This game for me isn’t about who wins will challenge
Manchester City for the league.
“Liverpool’s problems haven’t been against the big teams, they won against City, Arsenal , United [last season], it’s been against the smaller teams.
“So it’s not a do or die game for either team. But I feel with the confidence Liverpool have I fancy them to get a result against Tottenham.
“I’ll go for 2-1 Liverpool.”
