Ahead of the 2019 general election, the battle for the seat of Onitsha North/ South Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives may have begun in earnest with politicians of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) indicating their interest to sack the incumbent Representative Hon Lynda Ikpeazu who is of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The incumbent member representing Onitsha North 1 Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly Hon. Chugbo Enwezor is apparently holding the ace for the ticket of APGA as according to observers, Enwezor, an Onitsha born legal practitioner, is more popular with the electorate in the Commercial City than other aspirants.
Other notable aspirants jostling for the ticket of APGA are; Pat Obianwu Nwachi and Hon Anthonia Tabansi Okoye. Enwezor who is the Chairman of House Committee on Judiciary has gained enough popularity to oust Ikpeazu and fix APGA at the Green Chamber for Onitsha North and South Federal Constituency.
A current affairs analyst at Onitsha Gabriel Ejiofor said that Enwezor is the man to beat for the Abuja job noting that APGA has a better chance to win the Federal House election if the party fields Enwezor.
“Enwezor is a household name all round Onitsha and coupled with the popularity and acceptability of APGA, fielding him under APGA is as good as considering the job done” Ejiofor maintained.
