Just like Game of Thrones, it looks like one of football’s long-running transfer sagas could be about to reach its epic conclusion.
Eden Hazard’s desire to link up with Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid this summer is one of the worst kept secrets in the game and according to a report from French outlet L’Equipe on Monday, the Belgian forward will soon get his wish.
They claim Hazard will leave Chelsea for the Spanish capital in a deal worth €100m and crucially, that the move will be officially announced after the Blues face Arsenal in the Europa League final on 29 May.
That means the 28-year-old is likely to have his grand presentation at the Bernabéu in early June and will then begin pre-season with his new club the following month.
Hazard has spent the last seven years of his career at Stamford Bridge, winning two Premier League titles, a Europa League and a couple of domestic cups along the way.
But it seems the former Lille man is ready for a change of scenery and after he reportedly came close to joining Los Blancos in 2017, it looks like the time is finally about to come.
And I will surely be hoping he can help deliver one last piece of silverware to his current employers in Baku as a parting gift.
