A former Super Eagles player, Etim Esin nicknamed ‘Maradona’ after the legendary Diego Maradona of Argentina and a member of Chile ’89 Flying Eagles squad also spoken on the chances of the Super Eagles as they prepare for the 2019 AFCON in Egypt.
He enlightened that “The chances are there for the Super Eagles but they have to prepare very well. Everything is about preparations and then no team should be undermined or over looked”
Also the “The coach should include young players in his squad. He should mix experience with youth and the team will go far” he said.
He further stressed about giving the younger players like
Samuel Chukwueze and Victor Osimhen a chance to showcase themself. “They are young, fresh, eager and hungry to make a name for themselves. The team needs players who will show the right determination and fighting spirit”.
We have been to the last World Cup yet we don’t have a goalkeeper we can trust he stressed. but for the attack, I believe youngsters like Victor Osimhen and Chukwueze hold the answer.
Regarding the most outstanding player, “he Musa deserved and acolades because of his willing spirit to play for the team, and i would advice Rohr to built his team around him in this 2019 AFCON in Egypt.
He further applauded the appointment of ex-internationals in the likes of Austin Okocha, Kanu Nwankwo and Tijjani Babangida as motivational figures for the Super Eagles. saying “Their appointment is a step in the right direction and it is a welcome development. Having been there before, these legends will surely motivate the young payers in Egypt especially when they seems to be playing badly”.
